D9 and D5
D9 and D5 is the most common Disc to save Video movies in market. And the size of them can be a little bit confusing for users. There are basically 2 different DVD Sizes
DVD-5 (Single Side Single Layer)
D5 holds 4.37 computer GB. DVD+R/DVD+RW and DVD-R/DVD-RW support this format. This is the most common DVD Media, often called 4.7 GB Media. A DVD-5 disc will hold nominally 133 minutes of high quality MPEG-2 encoded video, together with three surround-sound audio channels and four subtitle channels. (Without video compression one DVD-5 disc would hold only about 3 minutes of video).
DVD-9 (Single Side Dual Layer)
D9 holds around 7.95 computer GB. DVD+R support this format. This media is called DVD+R9, DVD+R DL or 8.5 GB Media. A DVD-9 (dual layer) disc and hold 240 minutes of continuous video.

Compress DVD9 to DVD5 on Mac
Step 1: Select DVD source
Choose DVD-video disc from the source pop up menu.

Step2: Select the target
From the "Target" pop up menu, select the DVD disc, and on the type of DVD disc, please select the disc type "D5(4.7GB)"(there are three types of DVD discs: D5(4.7GB) Disc, D9(8.5GB) Disc and customized disc.)

Step 3: Start to compress
DVD Click "Start Copy" button to begin your DVD compressing.
Step 4: Copy finished
After the copy is done, a window will appear to inform you that the copy is finished. Click "Finish" to close the window and end the copy.
Tips: If you want to continue the copy from the same source, please click "Burn Next" button. Following the instruction of the program, please take out the disc that has been burned, and insert a blank disc to start a new copy.
